THE MISSION

The overall mission of “The Hoop Collaborative" is to promote wellness and healthy behavior through basketball. It is important for young men/women to be able to focus on playing competitive basketball in a positive and safe environment. This initiative will create healthier neighborhoods by providing community members and athletic organizations the opportunity for involvement in our movement against violence, modeling of positive social skills and promoting education. The hoop collaborate runs clinic/camps all over the state of Massachusetts to spread awareness of the mission.

Dozens of reports state that any youth that participates in sports is more likely to have higher levels of social awareness, self-sufficiency, and less self-esteem issues. With the involvement of sports through the Hoop Collaborative we aim to keep lower levels of loneliness, depression, and self-pity, and feelings of not belonging. We create a safe space through the program curriculums, dedicated coaches/volunteers, and the ongoing help of the parents. The Hoop Collaborative strives to keep the focus on its core pillars and operating beliefs to instill the confidence, mental toughness, and teamwork with the athletes to hopefully prevent any mental health issues. These programs are designed to show the athletes it’s okay to make mistakes, to teach them how to learn from the mistake, and reapply what they have learn to create the needed confidence. With helping the youth become strategically aware of situations on or off the court by educating them in needed areas and constant communication to help bridge the gap. The Hoop Collaborative hopes with the engagement of the staff and its athletes it creates the love and passion for the game creating a family culture.

THE PROBLEM

  • "Herc42Skills LLC" is an organization that works relentlessly to promote education in the Greater Boston/Brockton Area along with all of New England. We have been organizing basketball tournaments, creating mentoring relationships and raising funds for children and inner-city youth since 2004. Our goal is to emphasize the importance of education and community by helping our students succeed not only in the classroom, but also in life. We help children with the opportunity to be prepared for the upcoming school year by providing them with knowledgeable mentors and school supplies. We stand by our slogan - “Success only comes before work in the dictionary” and inculcate the values of hard work, perseverance and discipline in children and youth.
